Before Sunset,

If Million $ baby was about 3 characters, this movie is about 2 characters Jesse(Ethan Hawke) and Celine(Julie Delpy). Screenplay by Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy & Ethan Hawke.Story by Richard Linklater & Kim Krizan. Though this movie is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, the screenplay is not based upon any existing text. Because the Academy rule book says that all sequels are adaptations, it is nominated in that category.

Richard Linklater is the director of the movie and this is a sequel of the movie "Before sunrise" which was released in 1995.I haven’t seen the prequel but i still enjoyed it as there are lot of reference to the prequel in the movie. The prequel is a movie about two strangers (played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) who meet in vienna and after a one night stand promise to meet each other in 6 months.

Well they didn't meet after 6 months and Before sunset starts with those same two characters meeting after 9 yrs and follow them for an hour and 20 minutes.yes literally follow them for more than an hour.Jess a famous author now comes to paris and sees celine in a book store. He has got a flight to catch in a couple of hours. They decide to talk a bit before he leaves. The movie is about these 2 characters talking for next hour or so. Beautiful dialogues keep you interested in the movie. Jess and celine talk about love, politics, sex, relationship etc.

You feel everything is fine with the characters at first, but as the movie progresses, you get to know more about the characters. Jess is still young at heart and very romantic, celine seems to be the more matured and practical, slowly you come to know the vulnerable celine, who has been guarding herself.

Just with dialogues Linklater convinces that they are a great pair and makes you long for them to be together. At the same time he keeps you guessing on what is going to happen between them. You keep waiting for the break in the story flow to show some other person, event or a flashback of there vinnea meeting. But it never happens. The movie follows them from book shop to coffee shop to park to boat and to celines house and when u expect a usual chessy climax, it again surprises you.

There are so many warm and romantic moments in the movie. Linklater makes you relate with the characters view point on love/life/relationship/politics etc. He tantalizes you with the chemistry between them. He sets up so many scenes(evening sunset, on a boat in paris, celine starts talking about what she felt for him) where you want to shout out "common kiss her. dammit". He plays with there chemistry and keeps you engaged till the end of the movie.A beautiful and different movie by linklater.

The movie is filled with some nice dialogues like this one.Celeine who works for a Non profit organization talks about peoples in her field.

In my field, i see this people that come into it with big idealist vision's of becoming the new leader that will create a better world. They enjoy the goal but not the process. But the reality of it is that the true work of improving is the little achievements of the day and that's what u have to enjoy.
